Wedding!

Our oldest son, Aaron, took himself a bride yesterday!!! :D It’s been a long & busy week as I made the cake for the wedding (started baking & frosting last Sunday!), but it all went *perfectly* and we now have the most wonderful daughter-in-law, Amanda!

And in other news, I want you to hear it here first: I have discovered a new & serious condition and have decided that I have this condition known as “facebookitis” … the primary symptom of this condition is looking for a “Like” button everywhere I go & in every email or online convo! lol!

This Week ... Mini Wedding Cake

Made mini wedding cake for a friend's wedding this week. It was my first time using rolled fondant ... almost gave up on it. That is not easy stuff to work with, especially when my woodstove is cranked up to counteract the 2 degrees temperatures we have outside! The heat only made the fondant tend to dry out quicker. I got great raves from the kind gals at the wedding, though I definitely want to improve a few things on my next try with fondant. This cake design idea was taken from a much larger multi-layer cake in a book from Michael's. Here's my final result:
