Snow Ice Cream LO

For a recent challenge on PGD, we were to scrap a special memory having to do with food. Well, I decided to scrap our family's very special winter dessert: Snow Ice Cream!

Journaling:

This wonderful, delicious, sentimental
dessert has been in our family
for at least 3 generations.
My Grandma Dovie made it for
my momma, momma made it for
me & my brothers, & I make it
for my hubby & sons.
When we get a fresh, deep
dump of snow, someone grabs a
huge bowl & runs outside
to scoop up some snow,
someone checks the pantry
for a can of milk, we grab the
vanilla and sugar, and this
heavenly concoction delights
our tastebuds and our hearts!

One True You Lyrics Challenge LO

Another LO done for a PGD Challenge - this one we used some of the lyrics from the song "One True You" by Brad Rymer. My little nephew, Grady, seemed a good fit for this one, so here he is! :)

Diving Deputy

Well I had thought I posted this layout last month when I made it, but somehow it got overlooked! So, here it is - a LO featuring a shot of my husband on the Sheriff's Marine Patrol boat as he and another deputy on the dive team did some scouting around the Long Bridge on Lake Pend Oreille. They were familiarizing themselves with the area shortly before the annual Long Bridge Swim because they would be standing by for emergency assistance during the Swim.

Dreaming of Spring

I really enjoyed creating a layout about spring today. It was done as a challenge on PixelGypsyDesigns.com - we were supposed to use *bright* colors. Not my usual palette, but I love it nonetheless!

I also did another LO of my nephew, Braydn, which was another PGD challenge. We were scraplifting a beautiful LO done by PGD's Stef.

Here they are:

What A Moosey Morning!

Well I just never get enough of the mooses - and with February here we get to see them on a daily basis! So this morning, at 5am, we hear HUGE footsteps crunching through the snow past our bedroom. Our son Justin, who was sleeping on the floor in our fitness room, awakens to see a huge moose nose sniffing the screen on his window!! lol

Meanwhile, I get up to make sure our moose friend isn't going to do more damage to our poor apple tree (it has taken a beating from the moose lately). Sure enough, the moose finishes sniffing the window and heads straight for some tasty apple wood. I open the door, turn on the light, take a couple pictures (of course!), and tell him "Not the apple tree please!" He looks at me, and chomps off a couple more branch tips. So for a good while we have this "discussion" - I tell him "NO" and he pauses to look at me, then nibbles some more. Now, I, of course, am standing in my doorway or occasionally stepping out on the porch, but can easily duck into the house if he decides to bully me with his brawn. He is at my apple tree, which is just 20 feet from my porch. NO WAY I'd step off the porch. At one point, he bites off a branch & I tell him that's enough, so he stands there staring at me with a branch sticking out of his mouth, not chewing, just staring at me. Hilarious!

After a bit, I "frightened" him off a few yards and he gnawed on a small birch tree for a bit. Then he bedded down at the edge of the yard, in front of our son's storage shed. It was too dark for pictures, so I used my camera's infrared nightvision shots to grab a couple blurry pics - too fun!

As it got just a bit lighter out, I got this shot of him still bedded down:

After a bit, he got up, chewed on my apple tree again...

Then we had a final standoff before I waved my arms & he decided he'd had enough of me for one morning & headed to the neighbors!

Mooses! Meeses! Oh My!

What a great way to start the morning! Momma moose strolled up outside the window, so took a few pics of her. Baby moose joined her, so took a few pics of him & her. Then back behind them Poppa moose comes stepping out of the trees. Fantastic!

And now I'm off to church! :D

My Nephews!

I am very excited to have recently joined the Creative Team with Inspired Mommie Designs! Her newest kit being released this week is Sweet Baby of Mine, available at PrettyScrappy.com.

I really enjoyed creating a few layouts with this new kit - especially because it gave me an opportunity to scrap some photos of a couple of my adorable nephews!

Love My Brothers - Authentic Men

With all the love-themed designs out there, I decided to do a page about something I love that couldn't really use hearts and pink stuff. LOL! My brothers are all awesome (& good-looking! :D) and they all seem to have forgiven me for being a bossy big sister - at least I think they have! :D

Ducky In Love!

My latest layout was done for a challenge on PGD - we had to use at least 3 circles, including a circle photo. So I came up with this fun page using photos I took at Fernan Lake in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on a beautiful November day. Fernan Lake was a favorite fishing spot for me and my brothers when we were kids - mostly, I think, we caught more turtles than fish! ;)
