Foto Funday {2011 week 30}

 

Errrmmm, looks like I had the wrong week number on last week’s Foto Funday post …… not sure how I managed that, but I am correcting it for this week, & then I’ll go edit the title for last week! Now as for this week’s photos, isn’t that young buck just beautiful?? When I snapped this I was just shooing him away from our pond area – our motion-activated sprinklers that normally keep the deer away from our gardens were temporarily off & he tried to sneak in! His horns are so wonderfully velvety right now – very pretty!

Last Sunday we spent the day at a huge family gathering – my uncle’s annual catfish & onion ring fry! It was fabulous! The only downside was that I left my camera battery at home in the charger, so I was unable to take pictures at the event! I felt so lost because of it. lol! They have a beautiful pond there, larger than ours, which has a marvelous waterfall pouring out of the rocky hillside. I will definitely be bringing my camera *and* charged batteries along on our visit there in September!

With all the cool weather we’ve been having in the Pacific Northwest this year, it is hard to believe it’s actually HOT everywhere else in the US. Would you believe we actually had to have a little fire in the woodstove one morning this week just to get the chill of the house. It had been too cold for too many mornings in here and we just had to warm it up a little. Now today it is actually supposed to warm up to the 80s before it cools back down again for the rest of the week. I plan to definitely enjoy it!

I also think this little garden visitor of ours will enjoy it, too … a little garter snake.

I often marvel at the beauty & intricacies of God’s smaller creation, as in the little 3/8” frogs I’ve had all around the place this week, as well as all the different kinds of moths there, such as this one. Isn’t his coloring just something?

And I have to show off this wonderful, fun pack of papercrafting goodies I received this week from Natasha over at Moments of Tranquility. I was so excited to learn that my name was drawn in one of her blog giveaways, and when the package arrived I was just thrilled! Just look at this pack of stuff to play with …

Foto Funday {2011 week 29}

Oooh how I love flowers! This beautiful bloom was taken at my brother’s in-laws’ place in Montana. They used to run a commercial herb farm there – Full Circle Farm. While they’ve retired from that, they still have gardens full of beautiful flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Such a lovely place to spend our weekend. We were given the extra special delight of staying in one of their rustic cabins up on the mountainside.

And this lovely scene is a view out our window – doesn’t it look more like a hung picture??

I loved the rustic little guestbook inside the cabin. I might have to make some little books like this!

I just love poppies – so beautiful!

On our way home from Montana we did a little geocaching – fun & lots of opportunities for photos, too!

And back here at home we have some beautiful wildflowers in bloom!

And last but not least, here’s a few cute shots of the fat baby swallows we have in residence – taken by my dear hubby!

Foto Funday!

Good Sunday morning, everyone! I’m spending this afternoon at a couples baby shower for my brother, Jesse, and his dear wife, but I wanted to share this week’s photos with you before I go off to play! Enjoy the pics, and have a truly lovely weekend!

Foto Funday! … a little late ;)

 

{From my front yard … July 1st & there’s still snow on the Selkirks!}

Did you all enjoy your Fourth of July weekend? We had a good weekend – enjoyed lunch out at our favorite Irish Pub with some friends on Sunday. Didn’t make it to the parade or fireworks on Monday, but chose to kick it at home instead.

Hello Red Robin!

So many roses popping in the garden – we stop to smell the lovely fragrance every time we pass!

The scallions are still pretty tiny, but the lettuce is taking off … and that bit of cilantro just behind the lettuce isn’t doing too shabby either!

Chives gone to flowering … they sure are pretty!

My hubby got a new riding mower this past week, a John Deere, and he is SO thrilled! He mowed all over the place as soon as the mower was delivered. Due to his disabilities, I’ve been doing the mowing with our walk-behind mower, but now he can take on this “fun” chore!
